As a nutritional therapist I’m a big believer in the transformative power of food – especially plants which most of us don’t get enough of in our diet! They are an essential source of vitamins, minerals, fibre and even protein that our often stressed out body’s need on a daily basis! Alchemy provides a convenient plant and therefore nutrient boost for my time starved patients and customers.
I’ve re-created nutritional therapy in my four Alchemy blends – all the ingredients have a reason to be there based on their nutrient content. They work naturopathically with your body – the Energy Elixir for example doesn’t have guarana in it (a natural stimulant, but a stimulant nonetheless), instead it contains a rich source of vitamin C, iron and B vitamins all known to help improve metabolism along with maca that helps resilience to stress. I often to say to patients that I can’t do much about their life stress but I can help reduce the internal stressors in the body as well as help the body adapt to stress. Stress doesn’t have to be a negative if the body can deal with it well.
My Morning Elixir is my nature’s multi-Vit. All of these blends are food not supplements. I work a lot with children in my practice so i wanted the blends to be safe to give to children and throughout pregnancy. The greens in the Morning Elixir provide lots of beneficial minerals such as iron and vitamins such as Vit C, B Vits, beta-carotene (which converts ot Vit A), folic acid, along with gentle psyllium husk which nourishes the gut. Because this blend is so rich in fibre and plant protein too, it’s a great addition to a weight loss programme, keeping you feeling pin sharp and not needing to snack mid morning!
My Beauty blend I created for my women in practice who start to see changes in their skin, hair and nails. Antioxidants are incredibly important to help quench those free radicals and also again, protein for stronger hair and nails. The blends also combines Vit C rich berries such as goji and camu camu to boost Vit C which is known to help support collagen synthesis.
Sport’s nutrition is also important to me. So many of the athletes I work with are using too much sugar and whey to power themselves, often suffering with side effects of whey which can be bloating and digestive discomfort. So much of sport’s nutrition focuses on protein. In my opinion if you eat wholefood then you don’t need to have a 20g protein bar after a 45 minute training session! It’s also so important to allow the body to recover. So often the body is dealing with inflammation for example – every athlete’s nightmare! A vegan plant based recovery boost is naturally anti-inflammatory.
None of the blends have any stevia in them – I’m a big believer that whatever organic powder you use to boost your juice or smoothie shouldn’t take over the natural taste of plants! Although stevia is natural, it still makes food taste more sweet than it should do which makes your taste buds more used to sweet taste. It also tricks the body into thinking it is getting something calorie dense and when it doesn’t the body then craves it even more.
I hope that you enjoy them and experience the transformation.
